What Matters Most?

You Matter to God!

(based on a publication by GCF Youth L.I.V.E)

God’s Word reveals this:

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16 (NIV)

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16 (NIV)

Who is God to you? God’s Word tells us “And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love… .” (I John 4:16)

Love has a lot of definitions. God is the essence of love. If you want to understand love, you just need to take a look at God. His love surpasses all definitions. His love is unconditional. We will understand more what this means by looking at who He loves.

The world we live in is composed of different kinds of people who have different beliefs and practices based on what they value. Even as you read the headlines, the world is saturated by evil, corruption, power and materialism. God’s Word says…

“…don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.” – James 4:4 (NIV)

We are considered as enemies of God because of sin. What is sin? Sin is anything that you do that is against God. It is also the good you ought to do but you don’t do it. With this definition, have you sinned? No matter how rarely or frequently we have sinned, we are called sinners. God’s Word says…

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. – Romans 3:23 (NIV)

Even though we are God’s enemies because of our sins, God loved us by sending Jesus Christ, His one and only Son here on earth to die on the cross. That is indeed love! God’s Word says…

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. – Romans 5:8 (NIV)

Because of our sins, we deserve punishment but instead of us being punished and experiencing the wrath of God, Jesus Christ suffered and sacrificed His life for us so that our sins will be forgiven and we will be saved. God’s Word says…nd only Son here on earth to die on the cross. That is indeed love! God’s Word says…

He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. – I John 2:2 (NIV)

Knowing that Jesus Christ died in your place, for your sins so that you will be saved, what should you do? You should believe in Jesus Christ and in what He did for you. Believe that by this gospel you are saved. God’s Word says…

“…Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred…” – I Corinthians 15:3-5 (NIV)

Believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins and that He was raised from the dead. He is alive. What does it mean to believe? To believe is more than just knowing or understanding these things in your head but to also believe in your heart. This is faith. Faith is trusting in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation. You do not trust on your self, on good works or on other people but only in Jesus Christ alone. God’s Word says…

“For it is by grace you have saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works so that no one can boast.” – Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV)

If you truly believe in Jesus Christ by trusting Him alone for your salvation, then you will not perish. The consequence of our sin is death which is eternally being separated from God. God does not want you to be eternally separated from Him. God wants you to have eternal life. It is His gift – a life forever spent with Him. God’s Word says…

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23 (NIV)

“I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life.” – John 6:47 (NIV)

This is a promise. Because God is love, He will keep His promises. You will have eternal life and experience a personal and eternal relationship with Him.

What really matters – You and God

Would you like to trust in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation and receive the gift of eternal life?

If yes, you may use this prayer to talk to God:

“Dear God, thank You for Your love and the gift of eternal life. I admit that I have sinned against You and in need of Your forgiveness. I repent from all of my sins. I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins, was buried and was raised from the dead and appeared to many witnesses. I place my faith in Jesus Christ alone for my salvation that I may not perish but have eternal life. I now receive Jesus Christ into my life as my Personal Lord and Savior. I pray that from this day forward I will live my life for Him. Thank you for this eternal relationship I have with You. Amen.”

If you have prayed this prayer, feel free to me so that we may help you grow in your newfound eternal relationship with God. Welcome to God’s family!
