Negrénse Christmas Gift Ideas: Felicia’s Pastry Café

One of the hardest challenges when finding a Christmas gift for someone is suitability. Some amount of creativity do still result to occasional “wrong-timing” gifts. What could be the solution? Food! No one could go wrong with food, as long as the personal receiving the gift is not allergic to what you are giving him and her. Some cooked foods like cake or pasta is out of the equation since they spoil in just a matter of few days. What kind of food it is then? Pastries!  Biscuits, crispies and coated nuts last for weeks and are suitable as gifts for family, friends and someone special. Bacólod City is known, other than the City of Smiles, as the Capital City of the Sugarlandia which is Negros Island’s monicker for being a Sugar-Producing Island. True enough, tasty pastry shops opened doors in the City, many of which are heritage shops. One of them is Felicia’s, known for its famous cakes and other sweet pastries that will appeal to the palate of sweet-toothed people.

For Christmas, Felicia’s is having a Christmas gift offer for all of us. In order to solve your Christmas gift wrap or creativity dilemma, they already packaged selected products in a number of gift packs that are ready to give. Most of these gift packs come with its own wooden box too keep Felicia’s selection of treats in place with clear coverings for the one you are giving to receive. Nice and dainty isn’t it? The gift pack also comes with its own ribbon, package design and some novelty items like a cute mini-Teddy Bear or Santa’s elves. The gift packs do not come in cheap though since they are specially-made items with product selection made special just for the holiday season. As much as the presentation is beautiful, what to expect inside these boxes and tin cans are as tastefully special too.

Among their selection of items are almondettes, fruitcakes, almond crisps, lemon and oatmeal thins to name a few. Some of these selections are family heirlooms recipes that trace their origins from the kitchens in households of Negrénse hacienderos so expect these products to be extra-special. Unfortunately for our Negrénse kasimanwas in Metropolitan Manila, these gift packs are only available only at their café at Doll Bldg., 6th-Lacson Streets, Bacólod City. For those who are interested to have one of these gift items, you should reserve in advance. Reservations are only until December 15, 2011 in order to catch up with ever growing orders. While gift selections are not available in Metropolitan Manila, Felicia’s products are readily available at the Echo Store in Serendra or at Mana Cafe in 9719 Pililia St. cor. Baler St., Makati City.
